Formula Drift Rd.3 Homestead Florida is coming

Our second east-coast event is coming up quick.  Round 3 of the 2014 Formula Drift Pro Championships brings the series to a new track, Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The new track layout will be on a portion of the inner road course of this world class NASCAR speedway.

Ken Gushi and the GReddy Performance x Hankook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S Team have high hopes of bettering our Great8 finish, that we just had a few weeks ago.  Let's just hope the rain stays away this event.

Formula D Rd.2 - Road Atlanta

• Monday GReddy coverage from Formula Drift #FDATL 2014

For round 2 of the Formula Drift Pro Championships the GReddy Performance x Hankook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S headed east for the first of three east coast events.  The end result moved the Team into the 11th spot for the championship rankings.

Friday's practice and qualifying gave Ken Gushi his first taste of wet conditions in the new, more powerful, 2014 2JZ-powered FR-S.  The first qualifying session was was in the rain and Ken put it a solid performance (71pts.-wet.) The second session of qualifying came late in the night on a wet but drying track. Below is Ken's slippery (78pt) run, which landed him into the 7th spot for Saturday's Top32.

Saturday's weather saw less serious storms, but it also made it tricky to prepare for the unpredictable rain.  The first battle of the day for Gushi was suppose to be against Kado's V8-350Z.  Unfortunately, Kado could not make it to the start, so Ken received a bye run moving him into the main 16 bracket.




After the half time break and opening ceremonies festivities, Ken got a #FDIRW 16-bracket rematch against Kearney's S/C V10-Viper.  In a close battle with some contact, Ken's smart driving in changeable conditions got him the Win to move onto the Great8.

Luckly, Ken was able to escape the match with just a few scratches to the car. (see OMGdrift video)

The Great8 tandem battle was a battle of the 2JZ engines.  Ken's FR-S verses Robbie Nishida's SC300. Pretty evenly matched and in tricky weather conditions, the two had a close back and forth battle.  It might have been one of the most exciting pairs of the night.  


In the end, the Great 8 Formula Drift Rd.2 Road Atlanta finish and 7th place qualifying provided good points in the Team's championship challenge.

Next round, #FDFL will be in Homestead, FL on May 30-31st...

GReddy returns to Pikes Peak in 2014

 
We are happy to announce the GReddy Racing Team will be again be racing to the clouds in the world famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2014, in a Scion FR-S! 

As part of the Scion Racing Team, Ken Gushi will be competing in the Time Attack 1 Division in a revised (EJ-powered) 2012-13 GReddy Performance x Hanook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S (updates soon). 

(In 2012-13, the GReddy Racing Team attacked PPICH with Ken's FD-spotter and GReddy R&D Tech at the wheel of the GReddy X Scion Racing Turbo tC SR PPIHC Video 2012 & 2013.)

 The 92nd running of PPIHC will run the week immediately after the Formula Drift Rd.4, New Jersey event in June.  The main race will take place on June 29th, 2014!

Formula Drfit Rd.2 Road Atlanta is coming

Round 2 of the Formula Drift Pro Championships, starts off a three round east coast leg for the GReddy Performance x Hankook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S Team.

The Team is excited to bring our most powerful FR-S to date to the high-speed Road Atlanta road course.

Formula D Rd.1 - Streets of Long Beach

• Monday Coverage from Formula Drift #FDLB               

The GReddy Racing Team was back on the Streets of Long Beach for the competition debut of the all new 800+hp 2JZ-powered GReddy Performance x Hankook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S.


With back to back Long Beach events starting off the 2012 and 2013 seasons in 8th place, the team had high hopes to better the results and shoot for the team's first podium finish.

In early practice, GReddy driver, Ken Gushi was impressing everyone, with his high speed, smooth transitions, aggressive angle, wide lines and big smoke...  As shown in this instagram video posted by Formula Drift announcer, Jarod Deanda from the Judge's stands

The powerful new engine, chassis and driver performed faultlessly.  Unfortunately being the debut event with this new car, there is still a learning curve to dialing in the car under full range of track conditions and changeable variables.  This lead to a less then ideal Qualifying (77pts.,19th) and Top32 tandem battle (vs. Odi Bakchis). 


Rest assured the GReddy Team is already planning for more extensive testing to fully prepared for Rd.2 in Road Atlanta, May 9-10. Thank you for your support!
