We ended making all the way to the "Great 8" eliminations and a 9th place in the series (out of about 60 cars)
The weekend started off on Friday, when Ken scored a 84.5, placing the car in the #14 Qualifying position. Not bad for our 1st day running on the tight Streets of Long Beach course.
As Saturday began, Ken was really getting comfortable with the car in morning practice. Maybe too comfortable for the cars rear wing. Ken knocked off the wing in the infamous Turn 2 rear clipping point towards the end of the practice session.
Ken and the Team decided on running without the wing for the start of the 32 bracket where the #21 Drift FR-S up against the FC3S of J. Lowe. Ken got the win and moved on to the "Big Show" and the Top 16 Bracket.
In the Top 16, we then went up against the "FD 2011 Rookie of the Year" Oki Bakchis in his V8-powered S14. Ken and the Drift FR-S was able to pull away in the lead run and have a close following run for the win.
In the "Great 8" round of eliminations, we face the returning "FD 2011 Champion" Dai Yoshihara and his proven V8 S13, (who went on to finish 2nd.) Pushing hard in the 1st run, Ken end up taking off the 2nd wing of the weekend and spun the FR-S. But after a quick "5 minute" repair, the Drift FR-S was ready for it's 2nd run. Unfortunately it was not enough to overcome the 1st run. All in all, it was a great debut race, the GReddy Performance X Scion Racing Drift FR-S. And as we type this, plans for improvements are already in effect for Rd.2 in Atlanta.... (video footage...)
While in the Vendor area, we also had a busy day. On display was the 8.79sec 1/4mile GT-R with new GReddy RX GT-R products, news of GReddy FR-S products and New Evo3 exhausts (coming soon)...
Come see us in future rounds for one of our new GReddy Racing Team Decals and/or GReddy Drift FR-S T-Shirts...
Congratulations to FD Rd.1 Winners
