Two Japanese Series Championship Wins for GReddy

Over the (USA Labor Day Holiday) weekend, two important 2015 Series Championships were decided in Japan for two of our GReddy Racing Teams.

With a 3rd place in D1GP Rd.5 Osaka Drift, Masato Kawabata and the Team TOYO TIRES Drift TRUST Racing 35RX Dspec GT-R clinched the 2015 D1 Grand Prix Series Championship.

And with a Win, Toshiyuki Yatagawa in the Advan TRUST Cusco WRX completed his 3rd consecutive D Class All Japan Dirt Trial Championship in a muddy Round 7 of the 2015 JDC

Gushi and Kawabata to compete in Formula Drift Japan

This coming weekend marks a historic event for the GReddy Racing Team.  For the 1st time ever, Ken Gushi and the GReddy Performance x Hankook Tire x Scion Racing FR-S (from the USA) will compete along side Masato Kawabata and the Team Toyo Tires Drift x Trust Racing 35RX Dspec GT-R in an overseas round of the Formula Drift Asia Championships, Formula Drift Okayama.

On July 5th, Ken Block returned to Japan for a huge demo featuring 12 of the top D1 Grand Prix drifters.  Or very own Masato Kawabata in the Team Toyo Tires Drift x TRUST Racing 35RX Dspec GT-R, not only qualified No.1, but came out victorious in an unusually tight and strangely decorated Gymkhana-like course to over 9,000 Japanese fans.

Being the winner of the D1 Tandem tournament, Kawabata won a chance to challenge the purpose built AWD Ford of Ken Block.  We have to say, for a large, high-speed pro-drift car like the 35RX GT-R, was surprisingly competitive at the hands of 2x D1 Champion, Kawabata!

35RX Dspec Competition Debut at Rd1, Fuji

Rd.1 of the 2014 D1 Grand Prix at Fuji Speedway was where reigning champion, Masato Kawabata made his return to the TRUST/GReddy Team.   The #1 Team Toyo Drift with TRUST Racing 35RX Dspec GT-R qualified in the 20th position for the main event.

This matched up Kawabata against Daigo Saito in is Lexus IS.  With torrential rain the event was cut short after this debut battle.  See the D1 Grand Prix video series for more...

The competition debut for the TRUST/GReddy 35RX D-spec GT-R is targeted to be on March 29-30 at the famous Fuji Speedway.  At the wheel will be the returning D1 Grand Prix Champion, Masato Kawabata.

Here is the first action shot released of the new GReddy 35RX Spec-D Drift GT-R.  After it's award winning debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, it's been a mad rush of activity in preparation for round 1 of the D1 Grand Prix.  Behind the wheel is no other then the 2007 and 2013 D1 Champion, Masato Kawabata.

    Another successful showing for the TRUST/GReddy Team! (Part 1 - Booth Vehicles)

The new year brings big new from GReddy!  At the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon we had a great display and huge new announcements for the future of the brand.  (See our next blog entry for the new GReddy product additions for 2014)

TRUST President, Masaru Ikeda revealed the GReddy R35 RX Spec D-Concept GT-R and the return of TRUST/GReddy to D1 Grand Prix competition with 2007 & 2013 D1GP Series Champion, Masato Kawabata and the Team Toyo Drift.

The GReddy D-Concept GT-R also won GReddy's 2nd TAS Best Concept Car Award (the GReddy RX35 GT-R won this in 2012)

Displayed next to the GT-R was the newly revised TRUST/GReddy Time Attack Turbo FR-S, with it's new modified Rocket Bunny aero and retro-GReddy Racing livery. The 505ps / 66.6kgm turbocharged FA20-powered FR-S recently ran a 58"740 sec at Tsukuba Circuit with Time Attack ace, Eji "Tarzan" Yamada, making it one of the quickest ZN6 cars to lap the famous track.

Also on exhibit were the popular Japanese grassroots projects like the TRUST Swifts and a new Jimny...

Two more TAS crowd pleasing vehicles in the GReddy booth were the joint projects; BenSopra's new Z33 aero kit and Mr Miura's Rocket Bunny Ver2 with the optional DAI Edition canard set. (more info to come on both kits in the coming weeks...)
